In a Time of Distrust, Podcasting Shines Bright

Studies show that consumers trust podcasters more than other online creators. As podcast listeners/viewers, we’ve all felt this connection, this trust, with the host.

“She’s talking directly to me! She knows me!”

“I listen to him every week! I know him!”

Most of us have either purchased, downloaded, or at least checked out products or services promoted on our favorite podcasts.

The big question is: If we feel this magic as podcast listeners/viewers, why don’t we feel this power as podcast hosts? Is it because our podcast has a smaller audience? Is it because we doubt our own thought leadership? Maybe we underestimate the value or impact of our products or services. After all, the artist rarely sees his own art for what it is.

The big problem I see as a podcast agency owner: Too many podcasters are creating extremely useful, valuable, interesting, inspirational, life-changing content…and that’s where the buck stops. The next step for the listener or viewer is either non-existent, vague, or confusing. In the famous words of Axl Rose: “Where do we go now?”

Don’t pretend like you didn’t read that in an Axl Rose voice in your head.

You are NOT being salesy or smarmy by mentioning your products or services on your (or other) podcast.

You should be proud of and excited about the services/products you offer and the way you make the world a better place by helping others!

👉 DO THIS, PODCASTER!

Map out the listener/viewer journey from scratch to sale. How are people finding your biz and your podcast? Does your podcast have a clear CTA? Are you inviting your podcast audience to continue to “play” on your “playground” by referring to other episodes, videos, blog posts, etc.?

People need help being helped. Strategize and organize the listener/viewer journey in a way that guides your audience to the next steps naturally.

At The Podcast Man, we love digging into this fun stuff with our clients! (just sayin’ 😉)

Let’s put your podcast to work for your business,

-Zack
