Prepare Less, Shine Brighter

I recently (over)prepared a presentation at a networking event. It went great…mostly.

The timekeeper held up a finger (luckily not the middle one), indicating I had one minute left to talk.

I wasn’t even to the main topic of my presentation. 👀

I flusteredly rushed through the remaining slides to touch on the main points before my allotted presentation time came to an end.

Then came the Q&A, which turned out to be a huge hit. Not to pat myself too hard on the back, but I nailed those questions with ease and precision, for the most part! 😎

What does this have to do with podcasting?

From the years of experience with my clients as a podcast agency owner and head producer, I can confidently say, if you have the choice between strict preparation and winging it, 9 times out of 10, you're going to want to wing it.

The cool thing is, we usually don’t have to make that black-and-white decision. As podcasters, we can choose our level of preparation. Having a loose guideline for your episodes is great. Allowing yourself to show up naturally and shine in your zone of excellence is something that you can’t fake your way through.

The audience knows this, and you’re going to gain their respect and, more importantly, trust when you show up in your comfortable, authentic self and speak confidently, enthusiastically, or even passionately about your work and how it’s making a difference in the world.

The knowledge is already inside you. There’s nobody like you.

Share your gift with the world the way only you can!

Go get ‘em, podcaster! ⚡️
