Speak For Yourself

Thought leadership is about to be more important than ever.

AI is here, and one way or another, it doesn’t look like it’s going away. As business owners and professionals, how do we protect ourselves from essentially becoming obsolete to this powerful information machine?

Thought Leadership

When I say “speak for yourself”, I’m not saying it in a facetious or playful tone. I’m saying, speak for yourself like your life depends on it. The professionals who position themselves as thought leaders and trailblazers are the ones who will rise above the thought recycling of basic knowledge and information.

We’ll need to look at how we can use this knowledge to solve ever-evolving issues that face our industries. Information is so readily available and so rapidly recycled by AI and people that it almost becomes irrelevant when not applied strategically and sensibly in our fields of work.

A Few Examples:

🚫 Regurgitating industry news.

🟢 Opining on industry news and how it’s relevant to your clients or customers.

🚫 Creating an informational top 5 list.

🟢 Creating an informational top 5 list and digging into how each item benefits your clients or customers.

🚫 Delegating all research to AI or team members.

🟢 Getting your hands dirty doing your own research so you can more powerfully convey it and pass it along to your clients or customers.

Human Touch and Working Together

If thought leadership and being industry savvy are important, so will be (and already are) the elements of human touch and teamwork. Folks who are able to create and maintain real human relationships will rise above the hollow shell of artificial intelligence.

Building trust will become paramount not only among your clients, which may have been your first thought, but also among your team members. AI is a breeding ground for mistrust. Garnering trust among your clients, team, and colleagues or peers will be so important moving forward.

Where Podcasting Enters the Equation

In a world of misinformation and mistrust in the media and social media, podcasting stands apart as the most trusted medium. Well, some studies claim podcasting to be the most trusted, while others claim it to be among the most trusted. Either way, any podcast listener or viewer can vouch firsthand that listening to or viewing a podcast is a very intimate and trust-building experience.

Podcast listeners/viewers just trust the hosts. Simple as that.

Social media continues to get diluted with AI-created content. The mass media continues to be skewed or swayed by politicians and big money. Podcasting is not entirely immune to these poisons, but it does remain far more trustworthy as a medium.

Not to mention, podcasting remains a free market medium, with a decentralized infrastructure, generally low barriers to entry, and host control over monetization methods.

The Bottom Line: The next generation of thought leaders needs to consider podcasting as a part of their business pipeline to effectively present their authority in their field as well as the human side of their brand.

The Podcast Man is equipped and ready to launch and maintain your podcast, so all you have to do is show up and be the human behind the microphone.
