The Necessity of Creativity in Business

Back in my infant days of entrepreneurship, I used to think of business as a serious, black and white, nose to the grindstone sort of endeavor…you know, just taking care of business. (booooring…)

I thought creativity and expression were only for the musicians, artists, and maybe the film nerds. Boy, was I wrong!

Not only is creativity a part of business, but it’s also a crucial and necessary beauty of business - and the business’s accompanying podcast.

Thinking creatively spurs growth and innovation in our businesses.

That’s all well and good, but the biggest creativity killer, you ask? Being over-scheduled, flustered, rushed, and burnt-out. There’s no room for true creativity when our schedule is packed to the brim. Even if you schedule an hour or two of “creative growth,” if you sit down to this session feeling overwhelmed and hurried (like it’s just another task you have to do), it’ll probably be hard to stimulate that creativity muscle.

Creative growth is part of working on our business, and can’t be done if we’re always stuck working in our business.

👉 What can be done?

Sit down or take a leisurely walk and set the stage for a productive creativity session. First, give yourself some grace and maybe 10 or 15 minutes to settle in, especially if you’re feeling flustered.

Now, let’s think of ways to protect and cultivate your time and energy:

  • Delegation

  • Better processes

  • Better tools

  • Organization of time

  • Better sleep and health habits

This will free up more time and level-headed energy to show up creatively, focusing on things such as:

  • On-brand marketing that’s memorable and unique to you

  • A revamped podcast plan that highlights your style and genius

  • Better and more innovative ways to serve your ideal client

  • Fun and sincere ways to recognize and thank your clients and team

  • Overall passion and vigor for what you do…your “why!”

Creativity is most definitely a muscle. You may not notice much movement at first, but consistency yields exponential growth!

Go for it!
